Implemented parallel BERT in an Altera Stratix FPGA using
Quartus (Verilog). Designed & wrote PLDs for packing &
unpacking data, bus control, processor control and FIFO control using
Altera
7000 CPLDs and FLEX 10KA FPGAs in a High
Speed Data Recorder
(AHDL). Designed and wrote firmware for USB Human Interface
Device using Cypress CY7C63221 micro (Assembly Language).
Designed FracT1
drop & insert circuitry using AMD MACH CPLDs (111s, & 120s)
(MACHXL). Designed multiplexing
circuits
with Xilinx CPLDs and FPGAs (Xable). Wrote firmware
for a 68HC05 micro-processor and designed PLD control circuitry (MACH

for a multi-channel Intercom System.
Experience with PALs such as 16V8s and 22V10s etc (PALASM & CUPL). Designed
custom timing electronics for a Cub Scout Pinewood Derby Track, using
PIC 16F72 Micros (PIC Assembly). Designed KWh Meter for three phase power system
using PIC 18F452 Micro (PIC Assembly)
Analog Circuitry:
Designed simplified Safety Ground Wire Monitor for industrial
applications. Designed circuitry for a Barking Control collar
dogs. Designed and simulated High slew rate (5KV/uS 0-10V) output
stage
for a High Speed DAC. Corrected design problems, reducing the
noise & hum in the audio path of a VoIP Phone
reference design.
Developed a replacement "Ground Monitor" for use in coal mines.
Simulated Video filters, and added SinX/X compensation to a video
filter
for a Digital Video System.
Performed component tolerance analysis on multi-pole Video filters.
Designed 4 wire analog Intercom System for use with 4 wire + E&M telco system. Reconstructed documentation,
performed pSpice simulations, and redesigned semi-custom analog ICs.
Member of design team for a 64 bit
Plasma Driver IC. Redesigned an Optical
Receiver for higher sensitivity. Performed pSpice analysis for
Telco
monitors.
Power Supplies / Power Management / Battery Systems:
Designed power management systems and DC/DC converters for
Telco
products and lap-top computers. Designed Power Supply for battery
powered Portable Data Recorder.
Designed, built, and tested power supply and triggering circuit for Xenon
flasher. Designed, built, and tested Li-Ion battery system with solar
charger.
